Published four times per year, SAD Mag is the only magazine dedicated to covering Vancouver’s independent arts and culture from the perspective of local, emerging writers and artists.

Why should you subscribe to SAD Mag? 

Subscriptions to SAD Mag are just $30/year within Canada or $55/year within the United States.

We are completely volunteer-run: 100% of your subscription cost goes toward printing, community programming, and free arts workshops for urban youth.

We work to mentor and support young, emerging writers and artists: for many of our contributors, SAD Mag is their first print publication credit.

We are dedicated to promoting and supporting the queer arts community in Vancouver; in addition to publishing the work of queer writers and artists in each issue, we have also collaborated with organizations such as the Queer Film Festival and Qmunity.

SAD Mag is the only magazine with a mandate to exclusively non-digital art work, as we are committed to preserving the art of film photography.

We’re keeping print alive! Whenever you get depressed about the state of media publishing, just remember that your subscription is helping to keep a non-profit arts organization alive in the most expensive city in the country! That deserves a pat on the back.
